Molly Grue

The challenge was to design a book cover for a fan fiction story of my choice. I chose to create a cover inspired by Molly Grue from The Last Unicorn, focusing on the idea that magic, wonder, and purpose do not disappear with age.

Solution

I designed the cover around fantasy, femininity, and emotional storytelling. My typography choices were central to the design, including a custom “Molly” logotype that visually connects the character to the unicorn. I explored decorative type, serif type, and fantasy-inspired details to create a cover that felt magical while still staying readable and balanced.
