The Problem

A local museum needed a series of promotional publications for an upcoming seasonal exhibit. For the digital catalog, I focused on Colette D.’s Portraitry & Flora Fusion collection, which featured portrait photography combined with floral imagery. The challenge was to organize the provided artist biography, artwork images, titles, descriptions, and citations into a cohesive digital catalog.

Solution

I designed the catalog with a narrative flow, using the opening and closing images as visual bookends to create a sense of connection and closure. Large artwork images were used to give the photography impact, while quieter text-heavy pages provided balance and breathing room. Repeated floral elements, a limited color palette, and consistent captions helped unify the catalog without distracting from the featured artwork.

My design choices focused on guiding the viewer through the exhibit as an experience rather than simply listing images. The floral illustrations created movement across the pages, color blocks highlighted key information, and related captions and descriptions were placed close to their images to keep the content clear and connected.
